Under indirect supervision, is responsible for Auditing Inpatient Coding. This will include reviewing the coding of procedures, diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record.

Put your coding expertise to the test performing MS-DRG and APR-DRG audits, to ensure compliance to coding guidelines as stated by regulatory agencies and in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10PCS, , Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and organizational/institutional coding guidelines. and facility coding policy. Pricewaterhouse Cooper's SMART audit system technology will assist in the daily audit function, selection of focus review areas, monitoring of coder accuracy and generation of various revenue cycle and compliance reports.

Responsibilities and duties include and are not limited to:

• Maintains a working knowledge of ICD-10PCS coding principles, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third party requirements regarding documentation and billing. • Works the review queue on a daily basis to ensure all charts that are placed in the review queue are worked and any corrections are communicated to the facility if necessary.
• As a HIM Coding Auditor, you will be able to use and help to enhance our new CAC (computer assisted coding) tool as well as new encoder/clinical documentation software.
• You will have the opportunity to interact with other revenue cycle teams such as Clinical Documentation Improvement/Documentation Integrity, Performance Improvement and of course the Business Office.
• The duties of Case Mix Analysis, MedPar comparison reviews and quarterly Ethics/Compliance reports are also handled by HIM Coding Auditors.
• HIM Coding Auditors provide educational in-services for coders based upon audit findings and coordinate with outside consultants for independent audits. Facility offers variety of options for continuing education for credential maintenance and professional development.
The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Must Pass Test • Must be AHIMA certified and hold one or more of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS. • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in HIM • Successful completion of required ICD-10 training prior to start date.
• 5 years hospital inpatient coding experience utilizing ICD-10
• 1-2 years' experience in auditing DRG assignments.
