The book also includes a history of early cancer registration in the US, first hand descriptions of career paths available to cancer registrars, and insight into the decision making processes of highly successful professionals.
About the Publisher and Editor
Gayle G. Clutter, RT, CTR, is currently an independent cancer registry consultant. She retired from CDC’s National Program for Cancer Registries in the Division of Cancer Prevention & Control where she was a Program Consultant. Before joining CDC, Gayle also spent two years at State Central Cancer Registries in Texas and North Carolina. Her original training was as a Radiological Technologist and spent 23 years as the Director of a Radiation Oncology Department and Cancer Program Manager. Gayle is a past-president of the National Cancer Registrars Association, received the Distinguished Member Award and served as the Administrator of NCRA’s Certification for four years. Gayle is a founding member and past-president of the Florida Cancer Registrars Association of which she received a Distinguished Member Award. She has authored and co-authored several books and chapters, published articles, and made numerous presentations on cancer registration. Gayle is also a chapter author in Abstract Lives.

April Fritz, RHIT, CTR, is an Associate Editor of Abstract Lives and a chapter author. April is currently the CEO of A. Fritz and Associates, LLC, a registry training and consulting company. She has spent many years as a cancer registry trainer and is an NCRA Distinguished Member as well as NAACCR Distinguished Service Award winner. She is the author and co-author of many cancer registry books, chapter, and articles. Rosemarie Clive, LPN, CTR, wrote Chapter 1 which provides the history of cancer registries, Commission on Cancer, and the National Cancer Registrars Association. Rosemarie started her career as a hospital cancer registrar and later became a Deputy-director and Director of the American College of Surgeons Cancer Department. She was the Vice-President of a cancer registry software company, Director of two professional associations, Assistant Vice-President of an ambulatory services department, and Executive Director of a large cancer institute.
