To do this, you must thoroughly research the organization and learn about its culture and purpose. How would you fit in? How would you contribute your talents to its mission? Asking yourself these questions will help you articulate how your commitment to the healthcare industry would benefit the organization.

Establish your goals. The employer knows one of your goals is to get the job – but they’ll also want to know your broader vision. You can impress the interviewer by stating your short-term and long-term career goals, highlighting how you would like to grow within the healthcare industry. Your ability to outline your goals will make it clear to the employer you’re focused on your career advancement and have the potential to be a long-term employee within the organization.

Identify what makes you different. Remember, your resume and academic transcript alone will not get you the job. You must identify what specifically makes you most qualified in order to differentiate yourself from a large candidate pool. Whether it’s extensive on-site experience or specialized certifications, you should be able to communicate exactly what makes you most equipped for the job.

Being proactive about your preparation is critical for being successful in the interview process. The more you can showcase your unique candidacy, the better off you’ll be in selling yourself and landing new healthcare opportunities.
