Effective October 1st, 2017, there will be updated code sets for FY 2018 for both ICD-10-CM and PCS. If you are a participating hospital, check with your software vendor and/or TQIP (Trauma Quality Improvement Program) for information on when these changes will go into effect. These updated code sets have been released by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) recently.

Below we have outlined some changes applicable to Trauma in the ICD-10-PCS codes. The 2018 ICD-10-PCS codes include approximately 3562 new codes, 646 deletions and 1821 revisions. Watch for the addition of devices, body system and body part changes to many of the PCS tables as well as new and revised Guidelines.
