Effective October 1st, 2017, there will be updated code sets for FY 2018 for both ICD-10-CM and PCS. Check with your software vendor and/or TQIP (Trauma Quality Improvement Program) if you are a participating hospital for information on when these changes will go into effect. These updated code sets have been recently released by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid).

Below I have outlined some of the changes applicable to Trauma in the ICD-10-CM codes. The 2018 ICD-10-CM codes include approximately 363 new codes, 142 deletions, and more than 250 code revisions.
